The Romanian Volleyball Federation was founded v 1931. The sport flourished during the communist era s state support, and Romania achieved its best World Championship finish na 4th place v 1956. Romania competed na the 1980 Moscow Olympics v volleyball. Since the transition era, Romanian volleyball has faced challenges but maintains an organised domestic competition.
